Osprey Atmos AG 50L Backpack
From Osprey: The Atmos™ AG 50 is the best-fitting, most ventilated and comfortable pack ever made for traditional backpacking trips lasting a weekend or more. The innovative AntiGravity suspension makes it feel like you're carrying less weight and seamlessly wraps around your body, which means you'll enjoy every mile more than ever. From easy to use stretch mesh side pockets, Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachment, and FlapJacket for lidless use, the Atmos™ AG 50 is still the top contender. Backed by our All Mighty Guarantee, forever.
From Nick: I love Osprey packs. They’re incredibly durable, and handle about as much weight as you can throw at them with finesse and comfort. My personal Atmos AG 50L is the most comfortable backpack I’ve used: the suspension system has made carrying up to 60 pounds comfortable (well, as comfortable as it can be), and it’s the perfect size for an overnight trip either solo or with friends.
My one complaint is that it lacks the organizational side zipper pockets of the larger 65L - but you can easily make up for that with a couple of ziplock bags or organizational pouch.
For beginners: the number on backpacks corresponds to its storage capacity, measured in liters. Bags less than 40 liters are typically used as day packs or ultralight overnights; 40-60 liters are great for 1-2 night trips; and you’ll want a 60+ liter bag for multi-day treks.
